The Problem
Personal finance apps often fall into two extremes: they’re either dull, unattractive, and overwhelming, or so simple they become ineffective. As a result, users quickly abandon them because managing expenses feels more like a punishment than a healthy habit.
Research & Insights
By analyzing existing apps and listening to young, digital-savvy users, I identified three key needs:
- Speed: “I want to log an expense in seconds.”
- Clarity: “I need to see my balance without digging through menus.”
- Style: “The app should feel modern, not like a disguised spreadsheet.”
The Idea
CentoApp was born as a design concept aimed at solving this challenge: a financial experience that is clear, engaging, and so fast to use that logging an expense feels as natural as sending a message.
The Design Solution
Optimized flow: reduced from 5 steps to just 2 to log an expense.
Two usage modes: quick (daily) and advanced (analytical).
Floating shortcuts: log income/expense with a single tap.
Visual dashboard: clear balance and simple graphs.
Dark mode: designed for nighttime comfort.
Expected Impact (Simulated)

What I Learned
